Overview
Field operations begin by flying equipment
to a project site, and setting up drill locations. As each
drill completes a hole, the helicopter moves it to its next
location as part of a highly choreographed procedure often
using 4 to 6 drills, and a strategically positioned drill
crew. Only experience and exact planning can dictate drill
moves to minimize helicopter time and efficiently utilize
personnel and equipment. Shot hole depths vary from job
to job, but generally are between 20-60 feet. A full crew
using a complete compliment of drills can average from 25-30+
holes a day at 60 foot, to 50-60+ holes a day at 20 foot.
